IDG/ASID Announce Student Design Awards


Washington, DC, May 3–The American Society of Interior Designers and the International Design Guild (Guild) are pleased to announce the recipients of the 2005 International Design Guild/ASID Student Design Awards. The awards recognize outstanding interior floor covering designs by undergraduate or graduate ASID student members in both rug and broadloom categories.

The 2005 International Design Guild/ASID Student Design Award winners are:

Rug Category
First Place: Jamie Trank, Scottsdale Community College, (Phoenix)
First Runner-up: Viviana Restrepo, Miami International University, (Miami)
Honorable Mention: Zaima Suarez, Miami International University; Jaclyn Montes, Miami International University; Zaida Lis Torres, Miami International University; Nao Sudo, Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, (Los Angeles); Redi Karameto, University of Texas (Arlington, Texas)

Broadloom Category
First Place: Redi Karemeto, University of Texas
First Runner-Up: Chia-Ling Khoo, Oklahoma State University, (Stillwater, Okla.)
Honorable Mention: Sergio Montiel, Miami International University; Julianna Quijiano, Miami International University; Zoe Selua, Miami International University; Katerina Johnson, Virginia Commonwealth University, (Richmond, Va.); Elaine Dominguez, Rhodec International, (West Nyack, N.Y.)

A jury of Guild members met during the Guild’s annual summit convention in Las Vegas on Jan. 25 to evaluate the entries and select the winners of the 2005 competition. First-place winners received a cash prize of $2,500, first runners-up received $1,000 and honorable mentions received $100.
