Employment Rose by 175K in April, Unemployment Steady at 3.9%

Washington, DC, May 3, 2024-Total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 175,000 in April, and the unemployment rate changed little at 3.9%, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported. 

Job gains occurred in healthcare, in social assistance, and in transportation and warehousing.
