Distributive Trade Sales & Manu. Shipments Down 0.6% in December

Washington, DC, February 15, 2023-The combined value of distributive trade sales and manufacturers’ shipments for December was estimated at $1,819.0 billion, down 0.6% from November 2022 but up 6.4% from December 2021, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

Manufacturers’ and trade inventories for December were estimated at an end-of-month level of $2,483.5 billion, up 0.3% from November 2022 and up 12.7% from December 2021.

The total business inventories/sales ratio based on seasonally adjusted data at the end of December was 1.37. The December 2021 ratio was 1.29.
