Jobless Claims Fall for Third Week in a Row

Washington, D.C., January 20, 2023–In the week ending January 14, 2023, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims for unemployment insurance was 190,000, a decrease of 15,000 from the previous week’s unrevised level of 205,000, according to the Department of Labor. 

The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 1.1% for the week ending January 7, 2023, unchanged from the previous week’s unrevised rate. The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment during the week ending January 7 was 1,647,000, an increase of 17,000 from the previous week’s revised level.

The previous week’s level was revised down by 4,000 from 1,634,000 to 1,630,000.
