Unemployment Figure Drops Below 8%
Washington, DC, Oct. 5, 2012 -- Employers created 114,000 new jobs in September and the unemployment rate dropped below 8% for the first time since 2009, according to the Labor Department.
The government also revised job figures for August and July to show somewhat faster growth.
Economists expected a 110,000 increase.
The unemployment figure, which fell to 7.8%, is drawn from a separate survey of household.
Some 873,000 people in the household survey said they found jobs.
