Marazzi Workers Vote Against Joining Union

Sunnyvale, TX, Aug. 31, 2012 -- Workers at Marazzi's Sunnyvale manufacturing plant and warehouse voted last week not to join the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1000, the company said.

Of the 245 votes cast, 159 voted against the union while 86 voted in favor. Roughly 258 employees could have voted.

Representatives from the National Labor Relations Board conducted the election.

Marazzi said that while the company saw the union as a negative factor, the process did bring to light some issues that the company plans to address once results have been certified by the National Labor Relations Board.
