Home Depot Sales Rose 8.1% in Q3 Year Over Year

Atlanta, GA, November 14, 2017-The Home Depot reported sales of $25.0 billion for Q3 2017, an 8.1% increase from Q3 2016 when sales were $23.2 billion.

Comparable store sales for Q3 2017 were positive 7.9%, and comp sales for U.S. stores were positive 7.7%.

Net earnings for Q3 2017 were $2.2 billion, compared with net earnings of $2.0 billion in the same period of fiscal 2016.

The company estimates that hurricane-related sales positively impacted comparable store sales growth by approximately $282 million in the fiscal third quarter. The gross margin on these hurricane-related sales was considerably less than the company average. In the fiscal third quarter, the company also incurred approximately $104 million of hurricane-related expense. As a result of the hurricanes, the company's operating profit was negatively impacted by approximately $51 million in Q3.

At the end of the third quarter, the company operated a total of 2,283 retail stores in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, 10 Canadian provinces and Mexico.
