Halstead Cuts Ribbon on New Rincon, GA Distribution Center

Rincon, GA, January 30, 2018-Calhoun, Georgia-based Halstead International celebrated the grand opening of its new national distribution center in Rincon, Georgia.

The dedication of the 150,000 square foot, Green Globes-designed facility, which encompasses the latest in sustainable design, included a ribbon cutting, luncheon reception and warehouse facility tours.

Harlan Stone, CEO of Halstead International, and Michael Kaminsky, COO of Halstead, officiated, joined by Halstead employees, local business leaders and officials, and business partners, including the design and construction teams. The new facility joins Halstead’s neighboring 112,000 square foot facility in Rincon and a 95,000 square foot warehouse property in Calhoun, Georgia.

Expansion in Rincon gives access to an array of logistics and supply chain capabilities. The facility will improve the supply chain for the distribution of The Home Depot products that Halstead designs, manufactures and sells, which will be warehoused at the new facility. Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) has the largest single terminal in North America growing at 5.4% per year. That, along with on-site U.S. customs inspections and some of the fastest processing times in the country, allows Halstead to process its goods to customers more efficiently. In addition, with the I-95 corridor, markets from South Florida to Maine and beyond are easily reached (110 million people/over 37% of US population). Adding 72% more distribution space to the company’s Georgia network facilitates the continued on-time delivery of goods to customers, and allows further opportunities for job creation and future business growth.

The company partnered with the renowned Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) and its Collaborative Learning Center (CLC) in a student design competition to develop concepts for artistic, creative and decorative elements for the facility. Halstead will debut the winning design in the new building’s reception area at the grand opening. Sustainability, a long-standing cornerstone of Halstead/Metroflor’s business philosophy, was an important element of the design challenge and a requirement for the students to integrate into their design process. The winning presentation was created by Ellie Song and Youngji Park, both Interior Design majors at SCAD.
