Flor, Mannington LVT, Crossville Wood Look Porcelain: DesignOvations

Even as a student, I knew I wanted to have a career in commercial interior design, which is why I snicker every time someone says, “Oh, your house must be so beautiful.” The truth is, my house was my grandparents’; it is 54 years old, and much of the interior was original to the house when we bought it. We are slowly upgrading, but it is still a far cry from the show homes pictured in design magazines. I am, however, lucky to work for a firm that specializes in the hospitality and senior living markets. I see this work as sort of a crossover between residential and commercial design. As interior designers for these spaces, our job is to select flooring materials durable enough to withstand the traffic of a commercial space but still offer all the comforts of home. The products below are ones that transition well between the markets, ones that I have used both in my home and in commercial design.
