Durable Goods Orders Rise in September

Washington, DC, Oct. 26, 2011 -- The Commerce Department said on Wednesday that durable goods orders excluding transportation rose 1.7% in September after falling by a revised 0.4% in August.

The increase topped economists' expectations for a 0.4% increase after a previously reported 0.1% drop.

However, including transportation, orders fell 0.8%.

Transportation orders fell 7.5%, the largest decline since April.
