Design Ovations - April 2012

Flooring is a major element of the design for any space, sometimes playing a primary role as the focus for color, pattern, or texture, and other times a secondary role that supports the overall design.  No matter what role it plays, it should be compelling and relevant in its own right.  My personal design philosophy incorporates this perspective on a fundamental level, which gets overlaid by the individual framework of variables for the project, including design, performance and budget.  Within this framework each project begins to develop its own character based on the unique elements it offers and, in part, the multitude of flooring options that continue to become available.
