New York, NY, December 28--Chain store retail sales rose in the week ended Dec. 25 by 2.7 percent, the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and UBS said in a joint report.
"Although holiday sales were slow and uneven for most of the season, last minute shoppers were out in force last week," said Michael Niemira, ICSC's chief economist and director of research.
Compared with the same week a year ago, sales remained strong, rising 4.3 percent in the week ended Dec. 25 after the 1.6 percent rise in the previous week
