Yellen Hints of "Gradual" Rate Hikes to Come

Washington, DC, February 10, 2016—Federal Reserve chair Janet Yellen said that conditions in the U.S. would allow the Federal Reserve to pursue "gradual" adjustments in monetary policy.

In her appearance before the House Committee, Yellen clarified that circumstances abroad would impact the course of action “As is always the case, the economic outlook is uncertain," said Yellen. "Foreign economic developments, in particular, pose risks to U.S. economic growth," she added, pointing to recent signs of a global slowdown and subsequent market turbulence.”
