Valinge Wins U.S. Patent on Wood Fiber Process

Viken, Sweden, May 31, 2013 -- Valinge said that its subsidiary CeraLoc Innovation Belgium has been granted a U.S. patent regarding how its wood fiber floors are manufactured.

The patent, issued April 30, protects products marketed under the name Nadura. Specifically, the patent covers  the mechanical mixing of wood fibers with a binder and wear resistant particles into a mix and applying heat and pressure.

Valinge said the mix may for example be applied on a MDF or HDF core for forming a surface layer of a floor panel having high wear resistance. The patented methods offer an alternative to conventional laminate flooring production.

The products will be available in the U.S. soon, the company said.
