Personal Spending, Incomes Rise in August

Washington, DC, Sept. 27, 2013 -- Personal spending rose in August, the Commerce Department reported Friday.

Personal spending on items ranging from cars to health care rose 0.3% in August from July. July's number was revised higher to a 0.2% increase.

In addition, personal incomes rose 0.4%.

Spending was up for long-lasting items such as cars and appliances.
