New York Manufacturing Continues To Expand

 

New York, NY, Feb. 15, 2011 -- New York manufacturing activity continued to expand in February, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s Empire State Manufacturing Survey released Tuesday.

The Empire State’s business conditions index increased to 15.43 this month from 11.92 in January. Economists had expected a reading of 15.0 in February.

In addition to the improvement to current business conditions, the expectations index “continued to signal widespread optimism, though to a somewhat lesser degree than in January,” the report said.

The general business conditions index for the next six months declined to 49.40 from 58.95 in January.
