Mortgage Application Volume Declines

Washington, DC, April 2, 2014 -- Mortgage application volume fell last week on lower refinancing demand, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association.

MBA said its index of mortgage application activity declined 1.2% in the week ended March 28.

The MBA's seasonally adjusted index of refinancing applications declined 2.9%, while requests for purchase loans rose 0.9%.

Fixed 30-year mortgage rates averaged 4.56% in the week, unchanged from the previous week.
