Joel Cohen, Former VP of Queen Carpet, Dies

Atlanta, GA, March 27, 2013 -- Joel Cohen, 73, former vice president of marketing and sales for Queen Carpet in Dalton, Georgia, died March 26.

Cohen started with Queen Carpet in 1974 as vice president of marketing and served in that capacity until the buyout of Shaw Industries in 1998.

He was born in Brooklyn, New York and was a graduate of the University of Georgia. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sheila, two daughters and two grandchildren.

"Joel joined Queen in 1974 and Queen's sales were less than $10,000,000 annually. He had a tremendous influence in growing Queen to a $750,000,000 company when Queen merged with Shaw in 1998. Joel not only was involved with sales but played a large role in product design! We will all miss him!" said Julian Saul, former president of Queen and Shaw.
