Jobless Claims Rise Unexpectedly
Washington, DC, May 5, 2011 -- Initial jobless claims for unemployment benefits rose faster than expected in the week ended April 30.
Initial claims increased 43,000 to a seasonally-adjusted 474,000 during the period, according to the Labor Department.
Economists, on average, had expected claims of 400,000.
