Jobless Claims Remain Near Post-Recession Low

Washington, DC, June 5, 2014 -- Initial claims for unemployment benefits remained near a post-recession bottom at 312,000 last week.

Claims last week rose by 8,000, the Labor Department said Thursday, which was largely in line with economists' expectations.

The government also said continuing claims declined by 20,000 to 2.60 million in the week ended May 24. That's the fewest since October 2007.
