House Prices Continue Upward Trend

Washington, DC, May 28, 2013 -- House prices rose 10.9% in March compared with a year ago, according to the Standard & Poor's/Case-Shiller home price index.

It was the largest increase since April 2006.

More buyers combined with a tight supply are driving prices up.

The index also showed that all 20 cities measured by the report posted year-over-year gains for the third consecutive month.

Also, prices rose from February in 15 cities.
