Home Sellers Gaining More Clout

New York, NY, May 30, 2013 -- Home sellers are slowly gaining the upper hand, according to a survey by real estate firm Century 21.

The survey of more than 2,000 Americans found that 33% of the 365 who were in the market have been looking for more than a year.

In addition, many buyers said they were willing to make compromises on where they live or the type of home they would buy.

Currently, there are 2.16 million existing homes for sale, down 13.6% from a year ago.

Another survey finding: 42% of the people shopping for homes have made offers in the past six months, but just 11% of the bids were accepted.
