Higher Interest Rates Hurt Consumer Sentiment

Ann Arbor, MI, Sept. 13, 2013 -- Consumer sentiment in early September fell sharply from late August, according to the Thomson Reuters/University of Michigan survey.

The September reading of 76.8, the lowest since April, was down from the final August reading of 82.1.

Survey director Richard Curtin said consumers are concerned about higher interest rates and how they will affect jobs and the economy.
