Foreclosure Starts Rise from a Year Ago

Irvine, CA, Dec. 11, 2014 -- Year-over-year foreclosure starts increased for the first time in more than two years in November, according to tracking firm RealtyTrac.

A total of about 56,000 U.S. properties entered the foreclosure process in November.

It was a decrease of 1% from October, but a 6% increase from a year ago, the first increase in 27 months.

“The housing market is struggling to find the new normal when it comes to a tolerable level of foreclosure activity in this post-Great Recession economy,” said Daren Blomquist, vice president of RealtyTrac.
