Fabrica Marks 40th Anniversary

Chattanooga, TN, April 22, 2014 -- Broadloom and rug firm Fabrica International, part of The Dixie Group, is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.

Al Frink and two partners decided to open a small carpet mill in Southern California in 1974. With experience and ideas but no money, they obtained a U.S. Government Small Business Administration (SBA) loan for $50,000 to start the business.

The company was located on Fabrica Way.

“Fabrica in Spanish means factory, fabric is a derivative of textile, fabricate means to make, carpet’s a fabric, it’s there!” recalls Frink. “And we had our street named after us already. I was so excited to get my card … you think we’re a little mill, look at this!”
