European Laminate Makers See Sales Uptick

Bielefeld, Germany, Jan. 15, 2014 -- In 2013, the European Producers of Laminate Flooring association's 21 member companies sold 463 million square meters of European-produced laminate world wide, representing a global market sales increase of approximately 0.7%.

However, the western European core markets saw a slight decline of just under 3% overall. In absolute figures, western European sales fell from 298 million square meters in 2012 to 290 million in 2013.

Germany saw a decline with approximately 72 million meters, yet remained the largest single market.

Turkey was in second place with over 65 million.

Last year, North American sales rose from 23 million meters to 28 million.

The U.S. market represented 16 million meters, up from 12 million the previous year.
