Engineered Floors Eyes Millions in Tax Incentives

Calhoun, GA, May 10, 2013 -- Engineered Floors, which has announced plans to expand its carpet manufacturing operations in North Georgia, is in line to get more than $100 million in state tax incentives.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported the incentives could be worth $105.6 million over several years.

However, the Chattanooga Times Free Press said the package could top $120 million when local incentives are added. The incentives range from training assistance to an exemption on sales tax for construction materials.

In addition, carpet backing firm Mattex, which has also announced it will build a manufacturing facility in North Georgia, is also likely to be in line for an incentives package of some kind, the TFP reported. Mattex will be a supplier for Engineered Floors.

Engineered Floors has reportedly committed to creating 2,400 jobs in Georgia.
