Design Ovations - January 2012

I have had the great pleasure of working with a number of luminaries in the design world throughout my career. My own philosophy about design has evolved from these experiences. I believe that design should have a clear underlying idea, stir the senses, delight the eye and make life easy and uncomplicated. That goes for specifying flooring as well. As a former dancer and choreographer, I always think about how the proportions of a space dictate how someone uses it. We linger at the top of a staircase. We enjoy gathering in spaces of grand proportions. We feel comfort in intimately scaled spaces. The right selection of flooring can make each of these experiences all the more potent and, over the past few years, we have seen some wonderful innovation.
