Consumer Prices Barely Up in August

Washington, DC, Sept. 17, 2013 -- Consumer prices rose 0.1% in August mostly due to higher costs for homes and healthcare, the Labor Department said.

Economists were looking for a 0.2% rise.

Gasoline prices fell 0.3% last month, its first decline since April.

The so-called core CPI, which strips out food and energy, increased 0.1%.
