Bernard Zuckerman of Stratton Dies

Atlanta, GA, March 21, 2013--Bernard Zuckerman, former president and COO of Stratton Industries, died February 22. He was 91.

Zuckerman founded Stratton in 1967 with partner Burton Gold. The mill specialized in the manufacturing and marketing of commercial carpet product lines for the institutional and corporate markets. Stratton was one of the very first carpet companies focused exclusively on the contract market. Stratton became a part of West Point Pepperell, which was acquired by Shaw in 1987.

Zuckerman was a native of New York but developed a strong affection for North Georgia, after his move to Dalton in 1971. Zuckerman made sizable financial gifts to Kennesaw State University and donated 100 sculptures created by his first wife, Ruth, a noted sculptor. When it is completed, the university’s new art museum will carry Zuckerman’s name.
