Beaulieu Makes Good on Prize to Student

Dalton, GA, Jan. 10, 2014 -- When Sergio Triana was a third-grader, he was recognized in the Beaulieu Excellence in Education Program for reading more books than anyone in his grade in Whitfield County or Dalton Public Schools in Georgia.

But because he was not yet a U.S. citizen with a Social Security number, he could not collect his prize: a $1,000 U.S. Savings Bond.

Beaulieu officials promised he would receive his award as soon as he became a citizen.

Twelve years later, at a ceremony at Beaulieu America headquarters, Del Land, COO of Beaulieu, presented Triana, now a U.S. citizen, with a check for $1,000.

Triana is a student at Dalton State College with the goal of becoming a doctor.
