Surfaces on Track For Record-Breaking Show

Dallas, TX, December 12, 2005--Surfaces 2005 was a record-breaking event with the participation of 1,054 exhibiting companies in almost 500,000 net square feet of exhibit space. Surfaces 2006 is on track to beat that record as the demand for exhibit space continues to grow. The Surfaces 2006 show floor is almost sold out. The number of exhibiting companies on board for 2006 is 7% ahead of this time last year—with well over a month still left until the show—which means Surfaces 2006 will have more exhibitors, more products, more of everything successful floor covering professionals will need in 2006. "The floor covering industry is experiencing a robust period at this time and there is a high level of optimism about what the new year will bring,” says Chris Davis, President & CEO, World Floor Covering Association (WFCA), official sponsor of Surfaces. “This upbeat feeling throughout the distribution channels, coupled with some stylish and innovative new products to be showcased, promises to make Surfaces 2006 the 'must attend' event for anyone who sells floor covering." New company participation is also on the rise. Almost 25% of the companies already contracted to exhibit in Surfaces 2006 are new exhibitors, with more still to come. This means the show is on pace to have the highest number of new exhibitors ever. Each year at Surfaces there are thousands of NEW PRODUCTS AND SERVICES introduced and, with all these new companies participating, attendees will have even more to choose from. “Ever since we started working on Surfaces 2006, we have seen incredible interest in this year’s show,” says Michelle Troop, Senior Show Director, Surfaces. “Attendee registrations are well ahead of last year, along with housing and the demand for exhibit space. With the pace we are seeing, we expect to set new records with attendance and the number of exhibiting companies…it’s going to be an exciting show.” Retailers, builders, architects, designers, distributors and installers know Surfaces is THE event to see ALL the new products for the coming year. Manufacturers use the show to launch their latest floor covering fashions, tools, supplies and technology to the industry. Thousands of new products—including carpet, ceramic tile, hardwood, laminate, resilient, rugs, specialty flooring, underlayment, accessories and much more—are introduced at Surfaces every year. Surfaces 2006 will showcase THOUSANDS of exciting new products floor covering professionals can’t afford to miss. As always, manufacturers will be showing the latest styles, patterns and colors for carpets and rugs. Attendees will also find new textures, colors and sizes of hardwood, tile and laminates. Plus, glass tile, mosaics, unique medallions and borders, inlays, stone, granite, marble, countertops and color-changing tile—as well as all the widest range of tools, accessories, environmentally and ergonomically friendly products and so much more—will be introduced at Surfaces 2006. Floor covering retailers won’t want to miss the return of the Window/Wall Coverings Pavilion. This area on the show floor will showcase the latest window and wall coverings trends consumers are looking for to complement their homes. It’s a lucrative new profit center retailers can easily add to their stores. In addition to the record number of exhibiting companies and thousands of new product introductions, attendees can get the best education in the industry at Surfaces 2006. The Conference Program, which is sponsored by Mannington Mills, has 42 workshops and seminars in six targeted tracks—Business, Sales, Marketing, Design, Installation and Window Coverings.
