Mannington To Serve Abbey Members Individually

Salem, NJ, May 11, 2010--As a result of a dispute over policy, Mannington said it has accepted Abbey Carpet and Floor’s decision that Mannington will no longer be an “approved” supplier to Abbey members.

Mannington said it has maintained a long-standing policy that rebates will only be paid to retailers that maintain updated, current displays in their showrooms.  Mannington said that Abbey’s demand that rebates be paid on all purchases regardless of the member’s support of Mannington has resulted in an impasse between the two companies.

Consequently, Mannington said it will deal with Abbey members on a one-on-one basis beginning after June 30.

Mannington will continue to pay member rebates in accordance with existing policies to Abbey Corporate through June 30.  Mannington representatives will be contacting Abbey members on an individual basis to explore future alternative programs that are mutually beneficial.

“Mannington has enjoyed a great relationship with Abbey and its members for many years.  We regret that this dispute has developed, but feel our policy is fair,” said Kim Holm, president of Residential Business for Mannington.

“As always, we strive to do the right thing and we’ll continue to work hard to earn the support of Abbey’s members.”
