Mannington and Butler-Johnson Win Surfaces Partici

Dallas, TX, April 19, 2006--Surfaces has awarded $30,000 in cash to businesses that brought the most floor covering retailers to Surfaces 2006. Mannington Mills Inc., and Butler-Johnson Corp., came out on top of the Promotional Partner and Distributor Partner programs introduced for Surfaces last year. For the second year in a row, Butler-Johnson of Sacramento, CA, won $25,000 through the Surfaces 2006 Distributor Program. Through the program, distributors promoted the show to their retailer customers and helped them register to attend Surfaces. The distributor that brought in the largest number of verified attendees to Surfaces won the grand prize “We are very pleased to have won the distributor cash award again,” says Clay Covington, general sales manager, Butler-Johnson Corp. “I’m confident that the energy and excitement generated from this show will help us hit the ground running in 2006. In fact, we are already planning for Surfaces 2007 This show is extremely important to our continued success and to the success of the industry as a whole.” Through a similar program for manufacturers, in which participating companies also helped their retailer customers register to attend Surfaces, Mannington Mills brought in the largest number of verified attendees. In lieu of a cash prize to Mannington, Surfaces donated $5,000 to the Floor Covering Industry Foundation (FCIF), the industry organization dedicated to financially assisting those who are or have been affiliated with the floor covering industry who experience catastrophic illnesses, severe disabilities or other life-altering hardships. "Again this year, we were thrilled with the turnout at Surfaces, says Ed Duncan, sr. vice president, marketing, Mannington Residential. “It continues to be the premier event for the floor covering industry. “This year, Mannington was particularly excited to be a part of the Promotional Partners Program. Not only did it encourage retailers to attend the show, but proceeds from that program are donated to the FCIF, an organization that helps those in our industry who are in need. It all ties back into what we as a company believe in, and that's 'doing the right thing.’” Participating companies in the Surfaces 2006 Promotional Partner and Distributor programs actively assisted in promoting attendance to their clients/members via mailings, newsletters and web sites. Then retailers signed up using codes that were assigned to each manufacturer and distributor. At the close of Surfaces, the number of verified attendees registered using each code were confirmed and Mannington and Butler-Johnson were named the grand prize winners “These programs are a win for everyone,” says Michelle Troop, senior show director, Surfaces. “Distributors, manufacturers, retailers and even the Floor Covering Industry Foundation all received benefits from these initiatives. These programs have allowed us to support distributors and manufacturers across the country in their efforts and we look forward to doing even more in the future.” In addition to the cash prize, the manufacturer and distributor that registered the most retailers by December 15, 2005 were each given the opportunity to select one key retailer to win a trip to Surfaces, courtesy of that company. Beaulieu of America and Butler-Johnson won that contest. Beaulieu of America chose John Marett, PS Management, Orlando, FL, as its winner. And Butler-Johnson chose Hal Capps, Capps Floor Covering, Fresno, CA, as its winner. Both retailers won a first-class trip to Surfaces 2006, including roundtrip airline tickets, hotel suite accommodations in Las Vegas, limousine transfers to and from the airport, and full conference registration.
