Dal-Tile Donates Tile to City

Muskogee, OK, April 16, 2007--The porcelain floor tile in the remodeled Muskogee Civic Center will be manufactured in Muskogee, according to the Phoenix

The newspaper said that Dal-Tile of Muskogee this week notified the city that their plant will donate all the porcelain tile to be used in various areas at the Civic Center, said Walt Beckham, city manager.

The approximate value of the donation is $40,000, he said. The donation will enable the city to spend more money in other areas for the renovation project.

This is a very significant contribution, and it represents Dal-Tile’s community spirit here in Muskogee,” Beckham said.

Mayor Wren Stratton said the tile will significantly add to the project.

“(The tile) is beautiful stuff,” Stratton said. “It was already going to be beautiful, but I like to say that this will add to the richness. That tile is really going to class it up. We are very grateful to them for being such good neighbors.”

Even if the company hadn’t donated tile, Dal-Tile products would have been in the Civic Center, Beckham said.

“We specified Dal-Tile products in the bidding,” he said. “We wanted to support them, and this is a great way to get their name out to the people who come into the building.”

Once the Civic Center project is complete, there will be some acknowledgment of Dal-Tile’s contribution, Beckham said.
