Carpet One Intros Biltmore Estate Wood Collection

Manchester, NH, August 9-- Carpet One has announced the upcoming introduction of Anderson Hardwood Floors' new Biltmore Estate for Your Home Collection this fall. The collection, which features five families of floors and five decorative accents, will be available exclusively at Carpet One and ProSource stores in the U.S. and Canada beginning in September. Anderson Hardwood Floors' Biltmore Estate for Your Home Collection is inspired by George Vanderbilt's late-nineteenth century estate, Biltmore House. After receiving his share of the family fortune, Vanderbilt hired renowned architect Richard Morris Hunt to design this estate a~ a monument to the worlds of knowledge, nature and the arts. Located in the Blue Ridge mountains of Asheville, North Carolina, Biltmore House became the largest private home in America, with more than 175,000 square feet of living space and 250 rooms. Vanderbilt decorated and furnished the estate himself, gathering ideas from around the world. Anderson's Biltmore Estate for Your Home Collection features five families of floors: Carriage House - hand-scraped, solid floors inspired by the rustic beauty of the massive wooden doors, iron hardware and rough-sawn woodwork of the estate's carriage house. Conservatory Plank - hand-scraped, engineered plank floors based on the care and attention that George Vanderbilt lavished on his library and its hand-carved book rack. Restoration Plank - hand-stained, hand-rubbed, engineered wide plank inspired by the warm richness and deep color palette of woodwork and furniture found throughout the house. Olmsted Forest Plank- Frederick Law Olmsted, the landscape architect of New York City's Central Park, was Vanderbilt's natural choice to design the Biltmore House gardens and grounds. The forests that enfold the estate today inspired a rustic suite of distressed, whitewashed, engineered planks. Manor House - The upper and lower floors of Biltmore House are full of kitchens, living quarters, common areas and work rooms for the many workers needed to staff the estate. The woodwork and furnishings of these simple, well-designed, comfortable spaces are the inspiration for a group of authentically distressed, engineered planks.
