Beyond Las Vegas - January 2011

For the fifth time in seven years, the three biggest domestic flooring manufacturers—Shaw, Mohawk and Armstrong—are skipping Surfaces, opting for regional events more directly targeting their customers. Shaw and Mohawk were last at the show in 2002. Armstrong dropped out after 2003. However, it did exhibit with a major space last year.

This year, Shaw’s Anderson Hardwood, which in recent years has had one of the biggest and most dramatic booths at the show, will also not be attending. However, Mohawk’s Daltile and Quick-Step will be in attendance. Some of the prominent Canadian hardwood manufacturers, like Mirage, Lauzon and Model, are also passing up the opportunity, along with ceramic tile producers Florim USA, American Marazzi and Vitromex.
