ASID & Southern Accents Call for Entries

Washington, DC, May 14, 2007--The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and Southern Accents magazine are once again seeking the most innovative and inspiring projects to be entered in the 2008 National Residential Interior Design Contest.

Interested designers can enter in one of four categories: living rooms, kitchens, bathrooms and outdoor spaces. The winner of each category will be eligible for the $10,000 Grand Prize and will be showcased in the January/February 2008 issues of Southern Accents and ASID ICON. For entry details, visit www.southernaccents.com.

“We pride ourselves on keeping our readers up to date with the very latest in design ideas and trends, and this contest is one way we can see what’s developing,” said Karen Carroll, Editor In Chief of Southern Accents. “Each year we are amazed by the variety and creativity of the entries we receive—they range from classical to contemporary and everything in between.”

Florida designer Susan Schuyler Smith, ASID, won the 2007 Grand Prize for her outstanding Living Room design of a client’s home in Vero Beach, Fla. The family entered the building process with two children but had three by the time it was finished. The interiors needed to be elegant, but family-friendly at the same time.

The 2008 Grand Prize winner will be announced at the ASID annual conference, INTERIORS 08, in New Orleans. All entries will be judged by a panel of Southern Accents editors and ASID design professionals. Deadline for entries is Sept. 1, 2007.
