2017 Vision Design Awards - Apr 2017

A record number of architecture and design firms from across North America submitted innovative projects to be judged in the annual Vision Design awards, now in its eighth year. Jurors judged the entries primarily on the integration of the floor with the overall space design. This year, the grand prize winner came from the corporate category, and, in addition, a winner and an honorable mention were selected from each of the contest’s four categories.

For judging, all product and firm names are stripped from the entries, so the jurors vote strictly based on the merit of the design. Any project may be entered, regardless of the brand or type of flooring installed. Our forward-thinking sponsors-Bentley Mills, Crossville and Tarkett’s Johnsonite-have supported this unique blind-jury concept since the competition’s inception in 2010.

This year’s independent jury panel included Shashi Caan of the Shashi Caan Collective, who has participated every year, as well as Paul Lewandowski, design principal at Lavallee Brensinger and president of International Interior Design Association of New England, and Stefanie Comeau, interior designer at CBT Architects in Boston.

The winning designs will be celebrated at an event in Boston, Massachusetts in early September by the designers, the jury members, representatives of the sponsor companies and Floor Focus.

Congratulations to all the winners! Floor Focus will begin accepting entries for next year’s awards starting in January 2018.
