Wholesale Inventories Rise More Than Expected

Washington, DC, January 11, 2008—The Labor Department said wholesale inventories in November increased by a little more than economists had been expecting.

Inventories rose 0.6 percent in November after coming in unchanged in October. Economists had expected an increase in inventories of about 0.4 percent.

Inventories of durable goods increased by 0.5 percent and inventories of non-durable goods increased by 0.8 percent

The Commerce Department also said that wholesale sales rose 2.2 percent in November following a 1.4 percent increase in October. The increase was partly due to an increase in sales of non-durable goods.
