Wacker Polymers Opens Dalton Research Facility

Dalton, GA, March 27, 2013 -- Wacker Polymers has opened a research and technical training facility in Dalton.

The chemical firm supplies binding products and technical expertise for carpet manufacturers but manufacturing will be done in Kentucky.

Wacker's products include glue for carpet backing.

This is part of the same company that has invested $2 billion to build a polysilicon plant near Cleveland, Tennessee. Polysilicon is used to produce photovoltaic panels.

By locating its research and testing equipment near to clients, Wacker can directly test its chemicals with various types of carpet and carpet backing, as well as perform more than 20 types of quality control inspections, according to a story in the Chattanooga Times-Free Press

The goal is to get a product that works for its customers, then produce it in Calvert City, Kentucky, a company spokesman told the newspaper.
