Shaw Closing Maine Wood Veneer Plant

Patten, ME, July 28, 2010--Shaw Industries is closing a wood veneer mill in the northern Maine town of Patten.

The Bangor Daily News says Shaw will close the Appalachian Katahdin mill in the next several weeks.

Company officials said declining market demand and rising transportation and raw material costs were among the factors in reaching the decision to close the plant.
