Producer Prices Up but Inflation Still Tame
Washington, DC, Jan. 15, 2014 -- U.S. producer prices rose the most in six months in December but overall inflation pressures remained muted.
The Labor Department said its producer price index rose 0.4% last month, the biggest rise since June and the first increase in two months.
In the 12 months through December, producer prices increased 1.2%.
Wholesale prices excluding volatile food and energy costs increased 0.3%, the biggest gain since July 2012.
