Producer Prices Declined 0.2% in February on Lower Goods Prices

Washington, DC, March 15, 2016—The Producer Price Index for final demand fell 0.2% in February, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics has reported.

Final demand prices advanced 0.1% in January and declined 0.2% in December.

On an unadjusted basis, the final demand index was unchanged for the 12 months ended in February.

The decrease in the final demand index in February can be traced to prices for final demand goods, which moved down 0.6%. The index for final demand services was unchanged.

The index for final demand less foods, energy, and trade services inched up 0.1% in February after increasing 0.2% in both January and December. For the 12 months ended in February, prices for final demand less foods, energy, and trade services rose 0.9%, the largest 12-month advance since a 0.9% increase in July 2015.
