Private Job Growth Stronger Than Expected

Rosedale, NJ, Oct. 3, 2012 -- Private employers added 162,000 jobs in September, according to ADP Employment Services.

The report came in slightly stronger than the 152,000 Dow Jones Newswires–compiled consensus. However, the previous two months of job growth were revised lower by a cumulative 29,000.

The growth in September was led by the services sector, which produced 144,000 jobs, compared to 18,000 in the goods-producing sector.

Manufacturing employment rose 4,000, while construction employment rose 10,000, the strongest since March.
