Orders for Durable Goods Up 3% in October

Washington, DC, November 25, 2015--New orders for manufactured durable goods in October increased $6.9 billion or 3.0% to $239.0 billion, the U.S. Census Bureau has announced.

 

This increase, up following two consecutive monthly decreases, followed a 0.8% September decrease. Excluding transportation, new orders increased 0.5%. Excluding defense, new orders increased 3.2%.

 

Shipments of manufactured durable goods in October, down two of the last three months, decreased $2.5 billion, or 1.0%, to $240.1 billion. This followed a 0.2% September increase.

 

Inventories of manufactured durable goods in October, down five of the last six months, decreased $0.7 billion, or 0.2%, to $397.4 billion. This followed a 0.6% September decrease.
