New Unemployment Claims Fall Again

Washington, DC, March 7, 2013 -- Initial applications for unemployment benefits fell last week to a seasonally adjusted 340,000, according to the Labor Department.

That pushed the four-week average to its lowest level in five years.

Applications fell 7,000 the week ended March 2, near five-year lows reached in January.

And the four-week average dropped to 348,750.
