New-Home Sales Hit Eight-Month Low

Washington, DC, April 23, 2014 -- Sales of new single-family homes fell in March to the lowest number in eight months, according to the Commerce Department.

The government said sales declined 14.5% to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 384,000 units. It was the second consecutive monthly decline.

Compared to a year ago, sales were down 13.3%.

Harsh winter weather could well have been a factor.
