Johnson City, TN, Aug. 17, 2012 -- Mullican provided engineered hardwood flooring in “oak midnight” from the company’s Castillian Collection to use in an upcoming episode of “Man Caves,” a popular DIY Network cable TV show. The episode features the renovation of a luxury skybox located at Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee. The racing venue, one of the most popular tracks on the NASCAR circuit, is located less than 20 miles from Mullican’s headquarters in Johnson City.
Each week, “Man Caves” licensed contractor Jason Cameron and former NFL player Tony “The Goose” Siragusa offer ideas for how to transform ordinary rooms into customized refuges for men. The BMS “Man Caves” episode will air Friday, Aug. 17, at 9 p.m. EST on the DIY Network.
“We’re delighted to be part of such an exciting project, particularly since it’s such a big part of our region’s own local tourism and history,” says Brian Greenwell, Mullican’s vice president of sales and marketing. “Our contribution proves the versatility of our products and how easily they complement any decorating scheme. The suite looks great and is sure to be in high demand at Bristol Motor Speedway.”
According to Mike Stafford, the show’s executive producer, the BMS skybox suite is the largest space their designers have tackled to date. Normally, residential basements, dens or other living areas are targeted for renovation projects. For this episode, however, the producers chose to redo a 1,000-square-foot corporate box at BMS.
The designers incorporated numerous racing props throughout the space, such as stadium seating made from actual race car seats and pub tables fashioned from Goodyear tires. Marissa Sauer, the project’s supervising designer, says the Mullican flooring was a key component, noting that the dark floors “grounded the room and tied the whole space together.”
