Mortgage Applications Up on Rising Refinancing

Washington, DC, Sept. 3, 2014 -- Mortgage application volume rose last week as interest rates declined, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association.

MBA said its seasonally adjusted index rose 0.2% in the week ended Aug. 29.

Refinancing applications rose 1.4%, while loan requests for home purchases fell 1.5%.

Fixed 30-year mortgage rates fell to their lowest level since June 2013, averaging 4.25% in the week, down from 4.28% the week before.
